Blessing #20- Girls Day Out

We are blessed to be here with some of our friends from Beaufort, SC.  In this photo we are at the Hiroshima Peace Park.  It was my first adventure out of Iwakuni and we had a wonderful day together.

Blessing #19- Faith Like a Child

Macy asked Jesus to be her best friend.  April 28, 2012.  When I tucked her in that night, she said in a quiet but excited voice, "Mom, I am a Christian."  There is no greater joy.

Blessing #18- Our very first Dinner Guest

Mr. Toshihiro Takesue.  Jack and I met Tosh-san at a Japanese Cooking Class.
We had a very nice evening.
Toshi brought over some newspaper clippings about Japan and about his hometown.
He was reading us a comic strip in this picture.

Blessing #17- My little sidekick

Helping mom plant flowers.  (Just like Mimi taught us)

Blessing #16- Shipment Day

Our household goods arrived on Tuesday, May 1st!  It felt like Christmas morning!
We were neck deep in boxes in every room!

It was challenging trying to find a spot to prepare the kids lunches!
This was the first item that I hunted down and plugged in!  Thank God for coffee!
(And yes, that is an empty chocolate wrapper on the counter to the left.)  :0)

Blessing #15- Easter

Easter Sunday
"He is no longer here.  He is risen."  Matthew 28:6
Now that is something to be thankful for!

Blessing #14- Ice Cream

We have a BASKIN ROBBINS on base We can definitely make it for 3 years.
Amy + Rocky Road on a sugar cone = LOVE !

Blessing #13- Home made gifts from the kids

Jack made this cool "whirligig" for us for the garden.  It keeps the crows away.
Macy made us a bird feeder!

Blessing #12- Baseball Season

We were fortunate to get here just in time for baseball season.  The Thomas Kids LOVE baseball.  I love seeing them in their uniforms!

Blessing #11- Packages from Home

When we first arrived, the kids and I were a little home sick.  We were happy to have a place to live, but our little house was just so white and empty.  Waiting for us upon arrival was a package from my sister.  It was "JOY in a Box."  It included an Ann Voskamp book, bookmarks, ingredients for birds nest cookies, and this joy banner.  It was such a sweet and thoughtful gift.  If you would like to send your own joy in a box, please click this link.  http://www.aholyexperience.com/2012/03/the-best-gift-when-you-want-to-give-someone-joy-in-a-box/

This has been Hank's favorite gift from home.  A grill chimney from his mom and dad!  We have all benefitted from this gift!

Blessing #10- Japanese Toilet Seats

I know that toilet seats seem to be a pretty crazy thing to be thankful for, but these babies are heated!!!!!

Blessing #9- Date Nights

Hank and I went to a Korean BBQ restaurant called Jan Jakas.  You cook all of your own food on a little grill right in front of you.  Hank did the cooking for us.  He is handy with a grill.  I think that I will keep him.

Blessing #8- Something Familiar

I love Azaleas.  They remind me of home.  They remind me of Beach Drive in Panama City, FL and my front yard on Avery Street.  These are growing all around the base here.

Blessing #7- Macy's First Lost Tooth

Macy lost her first tooth shortly after we arrived in Japan.  Someone told her that the tooth fairy here wears a kimono and retrieves the tooth from under the pillow using chopsticks.  :)

Blessing #6- Our Garden!

Hank came across some engine crate lids and made us a few container gardens!  He worked really hard on them.  These are the before pictures.  I will soon post some of the current pictures!  The vegetables are GROWING!!!

Blessing #5-- Trying New Things

Sam and Macy eating ramen with chopsticks!  They learned that it was polite to slurp up your noodles and they absolutely love that!
 Octopus!  It's Whats for Dinner!
My friend Nancy told us that we MUST try Gyoza!  Great Recommendation Nancy!  Thank you.
I have chopsticks in my silverware drawer!!!
Josh eating his waffle with chopsticks.  Bless his heart.

Blessing #4- Thrift Store Finds

We found this lovely sofa at the thrift store.  It did the trick while we were waiting for our household goods to arrive.  I am mostly thankful for the little boy that is sleeping on it.

Blessing #3- Stick Furniture

This is the loaner furniture that the base allows you to use when you arrive.  It was not the most stylish, but we were certainly thankful for it.  Turbo seems thankful for it also.

Blessing #2- A Place to Call HOME

I recently found a quote that said "Home is Where the Mom is".  I like that!

Blessing #1- Our new adventure!
